The Importance of Honesty in Relationships

H2T-64Hey Divas! I must be honest. I have been guilty of sneaking and buying items without telling my husband! Oh, am I the only one? Sometimes, it’s just been a pair of shoes, but this time it was something a computer! Remember the other day when I talked about how destiny must be close because both of my laptops and my tablet stopped working all within 8 days of one another. The grace in it was I was led (by the Holy Spirit and my husband) to buy a new laptop and I did!

Sounds harmless so far right? The issue was I also ordered something that wasn’t really a need for someone else. I didn’t tell him because as he stated, “You knew I would say, No!” and he was right. I thought to myself, this is my money on my credit card, so why do I have to ask or consult anyone. Now, this was all subconscious thinking. I didn’t even realize at the time I was thinking like a single woman instead of a married one! I was just trying to do something nice for someone I love.

The big kicker is, I did all this before I knew I was “Firing My Boss!” Had I consulted with my partner, he would have talked me out of it and I wouldn’t have broken any trust. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not sorry I purchased the item for my loved one. I am sorry I did it without discussing this with my partner, my husband, who is both my partner in business and life. As a result of doing this, I broke some of his trust and he now ask, “What else are you buying without telling me?” The last thing I wanted to do was cause any distrust in our relationship.

The moral of the story… Be sure you are consulting with your partners when making decisions that will impact them as well. It’s only fair and will only cause stress and strain on your relationship and cause your partner to give you the side eye when you make decisions without discussing them first with them!

Like the old saying goes, “Honesty is the best policy.”
