Explore the Di$count Store

By Lynesha McElveen

Every self-respecting woman or man who likes to shop, has an item they need, or enjoys nice things should know their way around the Di$count Store.  Di$scount Stores can be a great source of finding everything from clothing, to electronics, to furniture.  If you are really good, you can even find Di$count Stores that offer additional discounts on certain days, based on certain color tags, or age or classification (Senior Citizen or Student).  When shopping at a Di$count Store it is important to look at the quality of the merchandise and inspect thoroughly for defects.  Some stores will only allow store credits if you no longer want the merchandise or get it home and find it is damaged.  If the defect is so minor no one would really notice, or it’s missing a button that you can replace, still be sure to ask the store manager for an additional discount.

Di$count Stores fall into several categories including:

Di$count Department Stores TJ Maxx, Loehmann’s, Marshall’s, Value City

Di$count Mom and Pop Stores-  the Jesus Store, Razmatazz Boutique

Outlet Stores- Tanger Outlet, Georgia 400 Outlets, Premium Retail Outlets

Thrift Shops- Goodwill, Value Village, Salvation Army, and 2nd Chance

Consignment Shops-Poor Little Rich Girl, Alexis Suitcase, Circles, and Labels Resale Boutique

Furniture Stores- Rooms to Go Outlet, Aaron’s Rental, Consignment Furniture Depot, Savvy Snoot

Pawn Shops- America’s Pawn, Cash America Pawn, and EZ Pawn

There are even warehouses that provide discounts on all kinds of unclaimed items at: http://UnclaimedBaggage.com.  You can get everything from clothing to electronics to in betweens.

With shopping discount, you can’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and to get in there and sort through items.  Things won’t be placed together by brand or type, but they may be by color, if you’re lucky.  If you can get past the immediate gratification thing most of us have, you can score some GREAT deals!  Remember, this list is in no way all-inclusive, nor does it imply you cannot find great deals at traditional retail stores.  Ask your retailer about semi-annual sales or discounts during holidays, store anniversary, or other days.
