April is Financial Literacy Month and what a wonderful time to get fully involved in learning about your money! I think April is a great time for this to fall, considering, you’ve gone through the first quarter of the year and can take some time to evaluate how you have done thus far and make positive changes while there’s still time left in the year to positively impact your money.
Some local things happening in Atlanta, GA include:
- Financial Capability program with Wells Fargo and United Way of Atlanta- April 6, 2013, Atlanta, GA Class will be held at United Way of Greater Atlanta. For additional information call: 404-614-1034 or email: ida@unitedwayatlanta.org.
- Foundations of Money Management with PNC Bank- April 13, 2013, Atlanta, GA
- Druid Hills Rd Branch will be conducting financial education classes LMI individuals.
- Foundations of Money Management with PNC Bank- April 13, 2013, Lawrenceville, GA
If you don’t live in Atlanta, don’t feel left out. There are all sorts of activities going on related to money all around the world. Check with your local FDIC, banks and credit unions, or just do an internet search on “Financial Literacy Month for 2013.” A great website to check out is: http://www.fsround.org/fsr/financial_literacy/files/2013-Financial-Literacy-Month-calendar.pdf. This site list organizations around the US offering free workshops, seminars, and financial literacy programs. Some of programs are ongoing and even offer you a free Personal Financial Coach for 6 months!
Also, check out www.jumpstart.org for activities for children and teens related to money. You can also schedule a one-on-one Di$count Diva Financial Check Up with me by emailing me at: Lynesha@LegUpOnLife.com where we can sit down and go over your finances, develop your financial goals, and create a plan of attack to eliminate debt and build wealth.
I hope this April you take control of your life, by taking control of your money. Learning about money is like putting a bullet proof barrier around yourself and your family and protecting yourself against all the dangers of the world. Money isn’t everything, but try living without it!
Let April be the month you invest in yourself by learning about your finances and fighting for your future!
Happy Financial Literacy Month!
