Good morning Divas! I’ve been taking the last couple of days and pondering on how sometimes we can get in our own way. Sometimes, we have a dream and it’s so big or seems so overwhelming we stall ourselves, become stagnant, and may just plain out get stuck.
What I have been learning over these past couple of weeks is sometimes we just need to take action. The scripture says, “Faith without works is dead,” it also says, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do that.” In other words, instead of consuming yourself with what exactly is the right step, just take a step.
Once you begin taking steps, you will often find that doors begin to open, things begin to get easier, and you begin to get clarity on what you need to do next.
For example, if you’ve always wanted to go back to school and earn a degree, but you consume yourself with, “How am going to pay for it, who is going to watch my kids, or can I really do it?” you will mostly likely kill your courage to move forward. Instead of asking all the questions, just take a step. Apply for a school. Do research on the best programs. Check out some websites for different programs. Once you begin the process, the doors will open. You may find out about a scholarship opportunity. There may be a daycare onsite at your university. You may even be able to take online classes at your convenience, but if you don’t take a step, you’ll never know.
What about those of you who want that dream job or to start that dream business? You’ve been talking and talking, but not doing a thing to prepare yourself. Try joining a leadership program or take a microenterprise course. You can find these by researching organizations like United Way, Urban League Salvation Army, or the Junior League. Or just do an internet search and see what’s available in your area. There are many opportunities to improve and prepare to be most successful in any given field.
Today is your day to take action. Make a decision to just take one step or do one thing that will propel you in the direction of your dreams, desire, and destiny!
